10 Ways to Improve Your Boudoir Photography Now [E-Book Review]

10 Ways to Improve Your Boudoir Photography Now by Edward Verosky is the first e-book we’ve reviewed here at Your Photo Tips.

Admittedly, it’s a bit of a different beast for me. Typically, I prefer traditional books that I can highlight, earmark, bookmark, and write notes in. Yep…I’m that guy. So I have to admit that I also haven’t read that many e-books in the first place.

Let’s jump right in.

About the Author

Edward Verosky is a creative music, fashion, and editorial photographer based in Austin, TX. His distinctive photography is emotionally engaging, and often stylistically cinematic. He has a direct and goal-driven approach to projects, is easy to work with, and will sometimes write about himself in third-person.

About the Book

Verosky tailored this photography e-book for the semi-pro and professional photographers who are looking to add boudoir photography to their arsenal or improve on their technique of this particular style of portraiture.

Verosky assumes the reader already has a general knowledge of how your camera works so there isn’t much technical teaching going on here and I think that should suit his target audience just fine.

He jumps right into the most important part of the session with a guide to understanding your subject’s fears and motivations. This is absolute key to getting the best boudoir images of your client. You need to know how apprehensive your client will be in front of the camera and how to deal with that. Is this a wedding, anniversary, or valentine’s gift? Or is this a reward for reaching a weight loss goal? All of this is covered and is worth the price of admission on it’s own.

You can really tell, as Verosky works his way through an initial contact to the actual session, that putting his client at ease and providing the best images for her is the real key to his success and, in my opinion, will be the key to your success as well.

Our author gives plenty of real world advice and some real keys to the success of this part of his business. He shares one of his easiest and most successful lighting setups and there are tons of great examples to use throughout this book on photography as a guide.

Conclusion

Having done plenty of boudoir photography when I ran my old studio I can honestly say that this book hits the most important parts of this highly popular and profitable photography session. Making your client feel comfortable, bringing out the best in her, setting guidlines, and some really great go-to poses and ideas would have certainly helped me out when I was still learning the craft.

If you’re a semi-pro or professional portrait and wedding photographer, and you’re looking at adding another specialty to your arsenal, I highly recommend this e-book on photographing boudoir sessions.

We’re giving it a 4 out of 5!

10 Ways to Improve Your Boudoir Photography Now is a great e-book at a great price: $5.
