An Amazing Mixed Media Visual Art Exhibit

Jake Marsico's mideast.midwest.middle class

My good friend Jake Marsico is a great photographer, and like me, a bit of a world traveler. He has spent a lot of time in the Middle East, and his photos from that time are amazing, and make up part of his new exhibit at the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown Ohio.

While I haven't been able to get there to see it yet, his friend and filmmaker Dave Adams collaborated with Jake on a short film that is the next best thing to being on the couch (you'll see what I mean in the video). If you are in the Youngstown, Ohio area (a short ride from Pittsburgh) do yourself a favor and stop by to check out Jake's installation.

Here's a description from the museum's site: Visual artist Jake Marsico brings the chaos of the Arab Spring into Midwestern households affected by the regional economic downturn. In this interactive, multimedia installation, visitors join public school teachers in considering an uncertain economic future. Mixed media: large format photography, audio, video, interactive lighting are featured in this show.

Jake's website is here: http://jmarsico.com/ and you can watch the video below.
