An Incredibly Creative Print Portfolio!
While more and more people are moving their portfolios over to iPads (and while it can be a handy way to show your images) I am a big fan of a nice big portfolio book. Something about flipping the pages and seeing nice big photos is more personal and impressive than photos on an iPad.
A few months ago I decided it was time to put together my own print portfolio to show around to potential clients or employees. Surprisingly there are only a few big companies that make portfolios for photographers, although there are quite a few small boutique places that sell expensive custom made portfolios. In the end I decided to go with an 11x 14" Pina Zangaro Vista. It's affordable, and you can easily take out pages to change up the images based on your client. The photo above shows my portfolio in the midst of being put together. I used clear sleeves and attached the photos to acid free black paper with these
.
If you have more time and money, you can get creative and create a book that is truly your own. Photographer Thomas Jackson did just that. He took a great set of conceptual images all based upon a robot, and made his portfolio look like a robot. It's hard to explain, so just watch the video below and be ready to be inspired.
If you have your own creative portfolio I'd love to see a link below in the comments!
