Another reason iPads are great for photographers.
So you spent all of your Christmas money on a half dozen iPads and now you can't afford that Profoto pack you've been wanting? No problem! While this isn't the most practical, nor cost efficient lighting setup around, it goes to show that a little creativity and an unlikely light-source can make some pretty amazing photos. This video shows you how an original lighting source can be provided with a lot of effort & some forward planning. But alternative lighting doesn't have to be this sophisticated, it can be improvised at the last minute. This is demonstrated by one of my favourite photographers, who found herself in a low level street light situation, late at night, so decided to light up her subject with a simple cigarette lighter. Check out the result & her other photos on her Flickr page - http://www.flickr.com/photos/audemnowadays/5033142055/
Good point w8andc! I took a step further in this lighter technique.

By the way iPad light looks fantastic. I've just made a quick test with iPod in macro photography and it's amazing.
