Arizona Assassin Created Havoc With Camera Before Purchasing Gun

Before Jared Lee Loughner fired off 31 rounds in his attempt to kill an Arizona congresswoman, killing six people and wounding 19, he was creating havoc with his camera.
Unfortunately, that will probably go down as a warning sign for future potential assassins.
As if camera-toting citizens did not have enough stigma to put up with.
On Sept. 29, Loughner walked into a Pima County employment center – which is a tax-funded government building – and began videotaping.
This, of course, caused everybody to panic. Workers inside the employment center ordered him to stop recording, which he refused.
They called a supervisor who also ordered him to stop recording, but he continued refusing.
According to the Arizona Daily Star:
“He had a video camera with him and was taking pictures in the building,” Mary Brodesky wrote to her supervisors.
“Front desk staff asked him to turn off camera and he refused. When job developer went up front to greet him he was using the camera. Job developer asked him to turn it off and Mr. Loughner refused.”
When Brodesky was called out, she wrote, “I said the staff person had not given him permission to use camera and he had to stop using it. He put camera in his pocket but it was still on and recording. I asked him to turn it off. He refused.”
“He pulled a crumpled copy of the Constitution out of his pocket and waved it at me saying it was his right. I attempted to calm him down but eventually had to ask him to leave the building, which he did.”
So yes, not only was he carrying a camera, he was also carrying a crumpled copy of the Constitution, which makes him a certifiable loon.
Well, we do know he is most likely a schizophrenic, judging by his online rants and interviews with classmates – not to mention his killing spree.
But if only he was carrying a camera that day instead of a gun, we would probably have never heard of him.
Except, of course, on this blog.

See, photographers are dangerous, they will have to be finger printed and registered. To purchase a camera you will have to pass a NCIC check ( FBI background check )and have a five day waite and can not purchase more than one in any thirty day period.

A killing spree is not a symptom of schizophrenia. Schizophrenics are people with a metal disorder. They are not automatically assumed to be violent. Most lead normal lives and never hurt a soul. This guy gives schizophrenics a bad name.
I hope I don't get a metal disorder. Magneto had one, and just look what happened to him... Prison in a plastic box.
In all seriousness though, yeah, not all schizophrenics are violent killers, just like not all terrorists are photographers, and vice-versa. Loughner, however, is batshit fucking crazy.
Schizophrenia is a very grave mental condition that distorts reality perception and thought patterns. Schizofrena reduce your life span by 10 years on average, 40% of schizofrenics are drug addicts and almost all schizofrenics are poor and unemployed. This is not really "normal" ... but yes few become violent, apathy is much more usual.
A killing spree is not a symptom/confirmation of schizophrenia any more than insistence on being able to photograph.
It's extremely irresponsible (and illogical) for you to suggest otherwise.
when cameras are outlawed, only outlaws will have cameras!
I'm sure the police will still carry them. They insist that they are above the law.
I bet you would have been wishing for a cop at that rally if you had been there.
Funny how all that contempt disappears when you need them to save your ass.
Great point Johnny Law, coming from you and your 'Copter-o-crime in the sky!
When seconds count the police are only minutes away.
And when they do show up they don't go in till the shooting stops!
When seconds count, the police are just minutes away.
Well, that's the crux of the problem Johnny; to you it's "funny", to most of us it's horrible. Yes, a conscientious cop or any quick thinking citizen could have effected the outcome.
On the other hand, maybe we could blame the people harrassing him for photography for the reason behind his spree.
Say it only if you believe it. We have no reason to cry wolf when there are thousands legitimate threats to photographers. I highly doubt this had any impact on his mental state.
You are attempting to find a logical base for his actions, there is none. You have the acts of a insane man, there fore there is no logic. Only insanity.
Wow. This guy had a camera and from what I'm seeing, he was filming some stuff. Big deal, doesn't make him a photographer or anything. Just means he had a damn camera. There is nothing wrong with having a camera, it's the GUN we're worried about. It's a photographer's right to be able to shoot (with a camera) in any area open to the public or within public view. Now, this may have been a restricted area, in which case he wasn't legally able to photograph or film, but I seriously doubt he was breaking any law in that regard. The GUN part is what killed and hurt those people. This dumb ass and I'm sure many others, gives people like me a bad rap. That sucks. I've been harassed by so many people in my line of work, but I just pull out my copy of the constitution, lmao, I mean, my copy of THE PHOTOGRAPHERS RIGHTS, and tell them kindly to fuck off. Anyone who views a photographer to be a threat can suck my balls off.
