Artists Giclee Handbook

Book Review

The Artist's Giclee Handbook

artists_giclee_handbook.jpg

I have just finished reading The Artists Giclee Handbook and the information is very important to todays art market and artists. It was really exciting to read this book by Susan Fader. She co-founded Ditto Editions with her husband, Nick. She is focused on guiding artists in all aspects of creating, marketing and selling their prints. Susan speaks regularly on the topic of Digital Fine Art Reproduction and Marketing.

One of my favorite chapters is titled: Moving Away from the term "Giclee". I have begun to despise this word as the general public sees it and no longer even reads it. That word can be bought at every discounter who sells canvas prints. We needed a better definition for what our work encompasses. She covers these topics from Creating the File for Printing to the proofing process and finalizes it all with marketing and selling and how to have a professional presentation.

I am grateful that someone has finally approached this topic and put it all in one book for us to refer to. It is packed full of information for even the most "casual" of artists including the vast number of artists who package and sell their own work on the Etsy site.

Unfortunately Amazon has a glitch on the page for the book but it's still a valid link. A new shipment is scheduled to arrive as the first printing sold so fast! Be sure to preorder the book to get it on the next shipment.

Hi All,
The second edition has arrived however, Susan's book won't be available on Amazon until after Thanksgiving. You can order it directly from Susan's website www.artistsgicleehandbook.com.
It really is a great book if I say so myself.

Nick
