News in brief: Benro's new flip lock monopod and Angel tripod
Need a monopod for those halfway-up-a-mountain or can’t-use-a-tripod-here moments? Benro might have just the baby for you. They’ve released a monopod with flip lock lever design legs, padded handgrip, and a hand strap as well. In case you need it. There’s a swivel foot pad and it has a large base and a flexible ball and socket which should offer you decent grip on difficult or uneven surfaces. It can carry a maximum load of 18 kilograms and should be retailing somewhere around the £67 mark.
But perhaps you’re still of the inclination that three legs are better than one and want a new tripod, a new tripod infact that has a detachable leg that can convert to a monopod. Step forward Benro’s three Travel Angel Transfunctional tripods, in small, medium, and large. They’re made from aluminium with magnesium alloy castings; they’ve ball heads with twist lock legs that can be independently locked in two positions or fold back 180 degrees. Perfect when you’re hanging off a ledge on the side of a building or otherwise space-restricted.
Coming in three sizes, they can support either six, eight, or 12 kilogram loads; the littlest costs around £220, the largest, £259.99.
