Cameras in Rainbow Colors, Finally
Pentax K-x
Henry Ford wrote in his 1923 autobiography (his was truly an “auto” biography) that, "Any customer can have a car painted any color he wants so long as it is black."
Today, you can order a car in just about any color of the rainbow, or in rainbow colors on one car if you want. No problem.
So, why, oh why have camera manufacturers and camera accessory makers still stick to “basic black?” I’ve “lost” too many things in my backpack, camera case, equipment case, looking for a black “something” in a black cave that's there, but hiding. You know the drill, you look everywhere you can think of, until finally, after half a dozen times looking into the same backpack, you finally find in that backpack. Once I found something I was hunting down, only because I used a small flashlight. Otherwise I would have overlooked it another half dozen times. It was a black thingamajig in a black interior. That was an hour of my life I’ll never get back. I’m sure you all have done the same.

So now Pentax has a new set of cameras, the K-r series, that you will never lose in a black hole. They come in red, olive green, beige, chocolate, pink, bright blue, green, orange, purple, and oh yeah, if you want, in black. They are colorful to say the least.

The multi-colored one, the Pentax K-r Korejanairobomoderu (say that five times real fast) is a limited edition camera, only 100 will be made and you can only order them on the Japanese Pentax website starting December 24th. The price, $1,190 for body and F/ 2.4 50mm lens. Not sure, but it looks like the first camera that needs a volume control for it’s body color. Try losing that camera in a black backpack.
So, Canon, Nikon, etc, are you listening? Can we see something other than “Henry Ford’s black is all you can get” colors?
