Canon to announce something November 3rd
Set in Hollywood, expect something video related
Canon has sent out a "save the date" announcement to many of the news sites (including planet5D) for November 3rd.

There aren't many details yet, but the assumption is that since they're doing it in Hollywood and the image shows something like a string of lights (tho to me they look more like concert lighting) that it will possibly be the rumored large sensor video cameras to compete with the Panasonic AF100 etc.
Let the discussion begin!

I think it will be the announcement of a new line of mirror-less DSLR cameras. I received a survey and it was about my usage and whether I would be interested in using a mirror-less camera. I also think they will announce a replacement for the 7D. That is a major announcement in itself. The 7D is one of the best cameras on the market still.
There are continued reports/rumors that we'll not see any new DSLRs in 2011 - so I'm not quite sure what to believe :(
I'm not convinced this isn't a hoax. I think the Canon guys would have been able to spell "A historic announcement" correctly.
But nonetheless, I'm curious!
I got an invitation - I know it is not fake - have spoken to Canon about it and confirmed it.
Searching around the web shows that usage for "a historic" or "an historic" is "proper" either way - just depends on the source. Some prefer "a" and some prefer "an" - I could post links to both but lets just say either way works and not argue about it.
... I did a quick google page count: "an historic" ... 42 million "a historic" ... 37 million.

Canon set to announce it's Red Epic for the Masses (4k) Nov. 3rd in Hollywood. IMHO
Hype Hype Hype Hype Hype Hype Hype Hype
Wake me up when there is an actual announcement.
Now that Nikon has introduced the Nikon 1 mirrorless camera system, if Canon doesn't announce its own mirrorless camera line, it will be making a huge marketing mistake that will effect its sales and its stock value. I don't see Canon as being that foolish.
Nov.3 we will see the M-EOS, the mirrorless-EOS or something like it. My personal hope is that it will be a really ground-breaking camera, something for professionals as well as the photo enthusiasts.
