My Philosophy of Nude & Glamour Photography
Behind my recent posts on nude photography
For me, the nude body is like a raw material... another artist might use oil or clay. I love the fact that, en masse, it can be turned into an infinite number of shapes or abstractions, while the setting I choose.. rural, urban, indoors or out.. is like a canvas—Spenser Tunick
The nude has long been a subject for artists—no matter what form of media they prefer to work in. Photographers, in particular, have been creating images of beautiful women ever since the invention of the photographic process more than 150 years ago.
Yet there is a difference between the art of the nude and a glamour photograph. Glamour photography is slightly different discipline because it combines the art of photography with the economic realities of the marketplace. It is not enough that a glamour photograph is artful, to be truly successful it must also be commercially viable. For some photographers, the nude photo need only be artful.

If you are like most photographers you may have, from time to time, dabbled in some form of glamour or nude photography. Many wedding and portrait photographers create boudoir portraits for clients or produce portfolio images for models and aspiring models who want to pursue glamour or centerfold assignments. You may have even submitted photographs of a model for consideration by a men’s magazine, such as Playboy. Although nude photography can be enjoyable and creative you may have never considered expanding your efforts into this genre. This may be especially true for the amateur or aspiring professional photographer who has an interest in nude photography, but thought that because of where they live and the equipment they own that this goal was unattainable. You will be glad to learn that nothing could be farther from the truth.

That’s why one of my goals in my recent posts is to change the way you think about the creation and nude photographs.
