Cop Block Founder Charged With Wiretapping

Cop Block co-founder Adam “Ademo Freeman” Mueller was indicted Thursday on three counts of felony wiretapping stemming from phone conversations he recorded with police and public school officials in New Hampshire last October.

If convicted, the 29-year-old can serve up to 20 years in prison.

Unfortunately, Mueller did not notify public officials that he was recording, as he normally does, which will make this case a little harder to beat.

However, his phone call to the Manchester Police Department was already being recorded by them, which might negate any argument of them having an expectation of privacy.

And, he argues, he identified himself as a reporter from Cop Block when he called the school, which he believes should also negate the expectation of privacy argument.

“I told them I was seeking comment,” he said in a telephone interview with Photography is Not a Crime this morning.

“They knew it was on the record."

"And what part of her job is private?," he asked, referring to the school principal.

"What part of her job don't we get to know about?"

The New Hampshire wiretapping law makes it a crime to record phone conversations without the other person’s consent.

The charges stem from an incident involving a student at West High School in Manchester where he recorded a cop beating up another student.

Cop Block broke the story, which ended up getting national press, causing huge embarrassment for police and school officials.

“This is a head hunt against those who are trying to hold them accountable,” he said.

A new law will go into effect in New Hampshire next year that makes it legal to record public officials, especially police officers, while on duty.

It's always been legal but it's never been so explicitly stated until this law.

But even the new law states that citizens "shall first give notification of the recording."

Earlier this year, Mueller was found not guilty of wiretapping from an unrelated incident in Massachusetts.

Last year, Mueller and fellow Cop Block founder Pete Eyre came down to Miami during their Liberty Tour and we all hung out.

Mueller and I visited a Metrorail Station and were harassed by security guards for video recording; the same guards I have a pending lawsuit against.

This is really tragic, because he's usually so diligent about informing them since he beat the previous absurd charge. He's now facing an indictment that really goes more to the core purpose of the statute rather than an arcane intepretation.

Still, I wonder if the Glick case can help him here, particularly the language about 'recording public officials in the course of their duties'.

Kyle, It is really tragic because you know they will try and make an "example" of him...to shut people up!! They hate freedom of speech, and admire newt Gingrich who wanted to "curtail" freedom of speech, then we'd have NO freedoms!! Just praying for a miracle that he can get out of it somehow...he could get 25 years...a sure silencer for others!! FBI helped get that girl 25 years in prison for perjury, as she told the truth about the pedophile ring "servicing" "some" of our Congressmen with children for sexual acts! Now the rest will not testify, so they get away with it and case is closed!!
Congress betrayed us yesterday, so our freedoms are rapidly evaporating!! Get ready for the POLICE State, and it will be pure evil!!

I disagree that this is tragic. I respect what CopBlock used to do, but these guys have really gone over the edge. Ademo and his friend Pete care nothing about the 1st amendment. They are extreme voluntaryist and anarchists.

They are also up on other charges stemming from a protest that got out of hand back in July. Their group decided to write their message in chalk on the side of the police department and a bunch of them got arrested. Ademo has stated that since he is forced to pay taxes, he believes that he is allowed to write whatever he wants on the inside or out of a public building.

These guys need to understand that they have to obey the law. Perhaps this will be a wake up call for them.

The notification requirement is so vague. Does the cop have to acknowledge. If recording a large group, for instance, does one constantly have to shout out "I am recording audio" just in case a new cop joins the fray? All it takes is one cop to say they were not informed and the charges start up again.

I have one question.. Was he IN NH? If not then what state was he in? This could easily negate NH having a case since he can't be expected to follow NH law in another state..

Its unfortunate but he might be toast on this one..

As a side note we might actually get some case law as to what laws are ACTUALLY in effect for interstate wiretapping.. This would be particularly true if he was in a state that required only single party consent.. Keeping in mind that the federal law is single party consent..

Yes, he was in NH.

Well darn.. I think he might be toast..

“This is a head hunt against those who are trying to hold them accountable,” he said.

Well of course it is. Everyone knows that you have to bow to a cops authority and they are above accountability. Sheesh!

So if a surveillance cam was recording, would producing that vid also be illegal? How did the balance of power get so skewed in favor of "THEM" vs. We the People?

we have become....one nation......without balls...

The law was made partially for this very reason. He's in trouble this time.

The New Hampshire State Motto is "Live Free Or Die." Looks like some of them need reminding from time to time.

When it starts to sound hopeless, we should remind ourselves of the Fully Informed Jury Association and do what we can to get the word out to potential New Hampshire juries. If local newspapers are flooded with letters to the editor from concerned patriots all over the country...I'm willing to write one if someone could direct me to the appropriate newspaper(s).

On the other hand, newspapers can ignore these letters if they choose, in which case the Free Staters already living in New Hampshire could get together and take up this good cause.

That's a good idea. This would be the perfect opportunity to target the jurors and inform them about jury nullification. Of course that can also lead to arrests but more publicity

And a fast trip to Club Fed, if this persecutor has anything to say about it.

There's a conflict of interest. The plaintiff, judge, & prosecutor all work for the so called "state".

The Following is my opinion. openly recording police in public is one thing, even a hidden camera in public should not be illegal.
The Legislature of the state of New Hampshire who were elected by the people of New Hampshire has made it a crime to secretly record phone conversations. The Intent of the people of the state of New Hampshire is to make it illegal to record phone conversations. This is what this person did. I watched the video and I knew this was coming.
In my opinion from reading his stated beliefs this Guy is a anarchist, he has no respect for our system of government. HE uses the constitution to suit him, but ultimately his stated goal is to end our system, end our republican form of Democracy and replace it with anarchocapitalism. The Enemy of my Enemy is my friend. His work to record police corruption is one thing, his ultimate goal to destroy our Constitution and create a world of Warlords and Serfs is another.
He hates the fact that the people have chosen a form of Government he does not like. Ultimately he has no respect for the people of New Hampshire and there desire to have a government.

@Rich
"Ultimately he has no respect for the people of New Hampshire and there desire to have a government."

Hold your horses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You sound like the church of catholic when trying to convict Galileo.

"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs." -John Rogers

To clarify: "the people have chosen a form of Government he does not like," means a majority has the right to force its policies on a minority. It sounds to me as though the majority which Rich represents has no respect for individual rights.

Don't know about this case, but you all need to watch this video to see how one sided the media (and people like Carlos) are... They only want the money shot and they don't care whether it shows the truth.

A good old fashioned angry cop confusing "interfering"
with "documenting."

The police can in your video told the this person to step back to a reasonable place. The telephone pole. Any reasonable person could clearly see that it was not too far for him to continue to video tape the officers. If people like this continue to push, create situations like this we will see unreasonable laws on the books in the future. Cop watching is legal. cop Blocking and stepping into a police investigation is not.IN my opinion this guy was a obnoxious ass, not interested in protecting the people the police were interviewing but interested in 15 minutes of fame.

Unbelievable, to me - that there are still people sticking up for the police state...and using "there" instead of "their" - hahaha. WTF? I guess some want this to be the fourth reich. Oh well - I'm outta here. I'll take my talent and energy and intelligence and love to another country. Good luck to all the brave souls who stay here and try to educate the idiot masses.

BTW - I did call...the police and DA. I told them it seems to me as a concerned citizen that it's the cops and school officials that are the criminals in these situations...plain as day. And I tried watching the so-called extended "real" version of the cops pepper-spraying the peaceful protesters. I don't care what ORDERS the cops give. Martial law has not been declared - and we are NOT citizen soldiers...I don't have to follow orders. People are s'posed to be able to do what they want...and act true to their beliefs. If we have to follow orders, that makes it a POLICE STATE. No better than Nazi Germany.
