Cop threatens to arrest videographer for "hindering and delaying my job"
The interesting thing about this video is not necessarily the naked guy who is laying on the concrete after being tazed but the way one of the cops threatened the videographer with arrest if he continued filming.
Luckily, the videographer knew his rights and was not afraid to assert them.
The cop told him he would be arrested for “hindering and delaying my job.”
That’s a new one.
The cop probably realized he was in the wrong because he then walked away, leaving the videographer to continue filming.
The incident took place in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina.

Props to the guy recording for standing his ground. Good for him…he knew his rights.

If I had to guess, the cop realized that he might have a riot in his hands if he arrested the guy with the camera. He decided to wait for reinforcements and by the time they got there he cooled down.
Am I wrong for saying that the situation was a bit volatile? Why, alcohol might have been involved. I’m impressed that the videographer managed not not drop the camera on his own, actually.
I’m glad he stood up for his rights, but he’s still a douchebag for all the childish comments after his confrontation with the cop.
I’m sure he COULD have been arrested though. If the officer was a little more intelligent, he could have most likely arrested him for being drunk and disorderly, or being punk in drublic. I don’t know if he was, but it sure sounded like he put a few drinks away.
Wait, they shot some guy with a taser for streaking?
Let’s see, an unprovoked attack on an (obviously) unarmed civilian with a lethal weapon…
I can see why he wanted to destroy the evidence! Even if he never gets charged with attempted murder (or even assault and battery), those are not felonies most people want to be seen on YouTube committing!
Two thumbs up for knowing his righst and standing by them. Brilliant and maybe this cop learns a lesson here.
He was doing so well until he said ‘For what?’ Then he opened the door wide for the cop to make up shit as the ‘for what.’ That’s the moment he gave the cop the upper hand. Beats the hell out of me why he turned and walked away, though.
*whacks forehead*
And he should have filed assault charges against the cop for smacking his camera.

FOLLOWUP VIDEO
where the chief says the officer has been educated, and he encourages EVERYONE to video the police while doing their jobs, albeit from a safe distance.
Wow finally a Police Chief that wants his officers to follow the law. This is refreshing after so many others want to always try and stop people from exercising their legal rights.
I was actually just coming here to link you (Carlos) to this video and the followup that Nick has already posted. I actually grew up on Wrightsville Beach. The cops there are notoriously bad. I witnessed a cop in his squad car on this same street (North Lumina Avenue–the main drag where all the bars are) almost run over a pedestrian. I’ve had plenty of lousy encounters with lousy cops in this town. One time a friend of mine was pulled over (for no apparent reason, wasn’t speeding or anything) and the copy asked him if he had “ever” smoked marijuana. Ridiculous. Anyway, Carlos, feel free to e-mail me if you want any insider information for a followup if you choose to do one.
The guy was clearly at first way to close. The deputy was wrong to tell him not to video tape but the guy was way too close
. The chief was honorable. Take it from another perspective. If,Or when I am drunk naked and in public I hope the cops at least ask that my twigs and berries not be photographed. I think that was the motive. They certainly don’t care about the taser.H. Who hasn’t woken up naked and in public. . The cops have been their too. WE all have.

I’m glad I wasn’t there when it was Kirstie Alley’s turn to wake up naked in public… Or Rosie O’Donnell’s for that matter… **shudder**
I noticed that, too. Oh, well.
