Extreme Perspectives: an eBook to keep your DSLR

Compact cameras and mirrorless are not made for mountain photography. Discover why in the 25th book from Craft & Vision

extremep02.jpgThe 25th book in the Craft & Vision collection takes you to new heights. Both in terms of theme: mountain photography, and in terms of technical aspects, which are present from page one.

Most of the Craft & Vision books up until now have been dealing with the “philosophy” of taking pictures, even if some of them do go into technical areas of photography. But in general the collection is more… if we can say so, mind than matter. That’s my personal feeling and I am pleased that it was been that way, so this is not a complaint.

But it’s interesting to find that the collection is not limited to a certain area of knowledge, and discover books like this Extreme Perspectives, An Introduction to Mountain Photography by Alexandre Buisse as the new title, exactly when the Craft & Vision series of eBooks reaches its 25th book.

extremep01.jpgI say this because this is a very technical book from page one. The author goes on to explain why he uses what he uses and there’s an interesting point there. There are always many lessons to be learned from books. Also, sometimes, a simple reason to keep your DSLR even if you want to travel light, as the author shows here. I like that approach and I identify myself with the pages that follow the initial chapter, revealing the choices Alexandre Buisse has to do to reach his photographic vision without becoming… a beast of burden.

It’s all very sound knowledge that amateurs and professional may like to read. It may even clear their minds of some cobwebs relating the resistance of cameras and gear. Alexandre Buisse for sure knows what he is talking about. Just look at the images in the eBook.

extremep03.jpgSo this is what the 25th book from Craft& Vision teaches you. And some other things too… In fact, the book is a constant lesson in composition – keep it simple, keep it simple, keep it simple – and a collection of stories that both will make you want to go out there to take your own pictures, and just sit down and reach for the following pages. Inspiring both in images and text, it’s an eye-opener for all those that want to do mountain photography. And even if the landscapes that Alexandre Buisse shows are not accessible to all, the rules and concepts explained in the book can be used for… the small hills just outside your door. Give it a try…
