Filmmakers Address Canon Vs Nikon Debate Through Imagination And Ingenuity
The debate between Canon vs Nikon rivals the storied old debates such as republican vs democrat, Honda vs Toyota and Macintosh vs PCs.
Well, maybe not the latter because there is no question that Macs are far superior to PCs.
I'm a Canon user myself. Always have been. And that's not going to change anytime soon.
I'm also a Honda driver. Always have been. And while that may change in the future, I'd rather spend my money on a new camera than a new car at this point in my life.
And we all know I probably won't change my liberal leanings anytime soon.
Anyway, a group of photographers created the above video where they pitted Canon users against Nikon users, depicting Canon users as American commandos trying to save a kidnapped girl at the hands of Nikon users, who are depicted as Muslim terrorists, specifically Palestinians because they are wearing keffiyehs on their heads (That, of course, is another topic of debate as you will read in the comments).
And let's not even get into the Palestine vs Israel debate. That one can get ugly as we can see in this article I wrote a few years back.
But even though it's not the most politically correct video, it was very well-done and required a lot of imagination and ingenuity.
And we all know depicting Nikon users as terrorists is hogwash. Just ask any cop and he would tell you that we're all terrorists, regardless of camera brand.

"Well, maybe not the latter because there is no question that Macs are far superior to PCs"
lol, that's a joke right?
btw, the video seems like a ripoff of this to me, albeit a good ripoff and more entertaining. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awq90APEVgw
I don't even know how to reply to this.
"who are depicted as Muslim terrorists, specifically Palestinians because they are wearing keffiyehs on their heads."
1. Your statement of "muslims terrorists" seems to help fuel the popular, and very misguided opinion that only muslims can be terrorists (Do some research); Which frankly, I can see being stated nowhere on the video. So it seems like this is your own creation. Pray do tell how you came to the dumbfounding conclusion that said terrorist scenario is conducted my muslims? While hostage taking comes under terrorism tactics, where does it say in this video it was conducted by muslims?
2. "Specifically Palestinians" are you frikking kidding me? Do you not see what is wrong with with that sentence? Firstly, it's an "arab" head dress not "specifically" palestinian, and last I checked, there was well over 1 billion of them and it became a fashion garment all over the world to wear in the last 5 years!
So by your logic, Palestinians = muslims = Terrorists.
For all it's liberal leanings, your opinion seems to be made with all the sweeping generalisation of a right leaning article!
I'm not sure if you wrote this in jest. But I find it deeply offensive.
I don't want to start a flame war, but with writing like that, you'll get the same reaction like you did in your last article, which I imagine you've had a read through and seen all the "anonymous" opinions on the matter.
Grow some balls would you? Honestly Chak, nobody cares if you're offended. Deal with it. Muhammad was a pedophile and is a false prophet, Sharia is for idiots, blah blah blah I'm gonna go eat some bacon.
1. What!? He specifically said MUSLIM TERRORISTS because that is what they appear to be depicted as. If he had just said "Muslims", or "terrorists" he'd be feeding the misguided opinion. By using the adjective, "Muslim", in conjunction with the noun, "terrorists", he has ultimately described them without casting any generalizations towards any group.
I knew it wouldn't be long before this would start.
It's pretty obvious they were portraying the Nikon guys as Muslim terrorists. I'm just stating the obvious.
As far as the Palestinian thing, I was going on the colors. Black and white seems to be more of a Palestinian thing from protests I've covered and videos I have seen.
When you talk about "Arab headdress", it usually tends to be red and white when it's not Palestinians.
And really, if you really think that I am saying that "Palestinians = muslims = Terrorists," then you are misinterpreting my statements.
But whatever. I don't proclaim to be an expert in Arabic headdress, so if I was wrong by saying that only Palestinians wear the black and white headdress, then I will acknowledge it.
But before I do, I want you to show me that particular black and white headdress is worn by other Arabic cultures.
And yes, I'm a liberal. I'm just not one of these ultra-sensitive, politically correct douchebag liberals.
I use Linux and Olympus, because there's no need to slum with rapscallions.
Dang, I thought I was the only one with that combination!
Your statement of "muslims terrorists" seems to help fuel the popular, and very misguided opinion that only muslims can be terrorists (Do some research); Which frankly, I can see being stated nowhere on the video.
Here is the Youtube description:
A group of Canon commandos is sent out on a mission. Their objective: to save an innocent girl who has been taken hostage by Nikon terrorists. Who will ultimately win this battle.
OK, so they called the Nikon guys "terrorists" and made them wear the Arabic headdress.
Perhaps I have a vivid imagination, but I put two and two together.
@Roberto
Umm, I am dealing with it, I'm replying! Doesn't that mean I have balls? Since when did I bring religious belief into this? I'm an Atheist. Though you stating that he was a "false prophet" makes me think you believe in prophets yourself.
@Carlos
The colour of the head garb does not indicate nationality or region. I've lived in the Middle East for more time than I care to recall and they all wear both colours. From Morocoo all the way to Iran. All black or red.
If attempting to logically deconstruct your statement of "Palestinians = muslims = Terrorists is misrepresentation, Then so be it; but there is a clear difference between using your imagination and applying that to an article for the masses to read.
It's the word association that greatly bugs me and should be challenged. It's a common theme among games/movies/books, but should we be so lazy as to catagorize a creed into a block. That's like saying because a tiny tiny splinter of Americans were KKK, that all americans are racist.
The video said "Nikon terrorists" not "Nikon muslim terrorists". I love the video, I just don't agree with the idea it subliminally suggests, and further fueling that idea based on imagination isn't particularly constructive is it?
I apologise If I've come across as a bit of a bitch and I know I'll probably get further scathing comments from others, but oh well, I had to throw my two cents in.
OK, so I admit, I should not have stated that the Nikon "terrorists" were depicted as Palestinians because, as you said, it could be any Arabic culture.
But if you don't see the Arabic headdress they are wearing - which you confirmed in your earlier comment - insinuating that they are Muslims, then you not only lack imagination. You're just straight out blind.
Of course you will probably respond by saying Christians and Jews living in the Middle East also where this type of headdress, but from what I've seen, they wear it in a different style.
Then again, I'm only going by what I find on Google and Wikipedia, including the following.
Traditionally worn by Palestinian farmers, the keffiyeh was worn by Palestinian men of every rank. It became a symbol of Palestinian nationalism during the Arab Revolt of the 1930s.[4][5] Its prominence increased in the 1960s with the beginning of the Palestinian resistance movement and its adoption by Palestinian politician Yasser Arafat.[4]
The keffiyeh would later become a trademark symbol of Arafat, who was rarely seen without a distinctively-arranged black-and-white scarf.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keffiyeh
So maybe your point is, I should not have referred to Palestinians as terrorists.
I actually don't fall into that trap that they are all terrorists.
"Terrorism" is all in the eye of the beholder.
I was just saying that these filmmakers were depicting them as Palestinian terrorists because for one, they were the ones who used the word "terrorist," and I'm the one who used my experience, observations and logic to pinpoint that particular headdress to the Palestinians.
And while it may not be solely limited to the Palestinians, the black and white headdress did become a symbol of Palestinian nationalism during the 1960s as you can read in my above comment.

As one of the creators of this movie ( i'm responsible for the SFX ) I want to say that the intention of 'terrorists' no specific pointed is to Palestinian terrorists.
We needed 2 kinds of teams, we have chosen for this option.
