Finding Models for Nude Photography
Referrals: Friend of Another Model
"There are those who so dislike the nude that they find something indecent in the naked truth." F.H. Bradley
Once you start working with different models, you will often find that you will get calls out of the clear blue saying “I saw some photos you took of my friend and I’d like to work for you too!” Such referrals are the most cost effective way of finding new models, and with some experience it will happen to you. This kind of luck depends a lot on how good your photographs are, and how easy you are to work with. If your photographs are bad and you’re rude to models during shoots, you will get another kind of word of mouth, but probably not the kind that will have models calling you!
The model in the following photograph was the friend of a model I had previously and she had seen and liked many of the photographs, so she called, and asked for a test shoot. This is from our first photo session together and was made during and her second-ever model shoot. As you can tell, she’s a natural.

The above photograph below was made during our first half-hour of the shoot, which I like to do outside in a nearby park if the weather is cooperative. Image captured with Canon EOS 10D set at ISO 200, EF 135 ƒ2.8 SF set at f/5.6 with 1/125th of a second using natural light supplemented with fill from a Canon 420EX flash.
The below image was made in the loft area outside my home office using natural light and fill flash from a Canon 420EX. Exposure with Canon EOS was 1/60 sec at f/4.5 and ISO 200.
