Florida officer forced to resign after slashing suspect's bike tires

You have to wonder about the IQ of some officers. Or at least the maturity level.

Here you have an officer who is 52 years old; a 20 year veteran with the New York Police Department who moves down to Florida and gets a job with the Tarpon Springs Police Department.

Jeffrey Robinson is also black, so he has probably been on the receiving end of racial slurs before. Especially from those he has arrested. So you would think he would learn to ignore it.

Think again.

On January 28, Robinson arrested a homeless man on trespassing charges. John Bilawsky used racial slurs against him during the ride to jail.

On February 8, Robinson is apparently still bothered by these slurs so he enters the storage room of the Pinellas County Jail and removes Bilawsky’s bicycle, slashes it tires and places it back into the storage room.

You would think that after 11 days of plotting revenge, he would have noticed that there is a video camera in the storage room.

He didn’t.

The video showed him removing the bike, then replacing it with wobbly wheels. After an internal investigation, he resigned to avoid being fired.

Uh, so vandalism isn’t a crime if you wear a badge? You just get to resign?

I’m shocked that the homeless guy wasn’t, wink wink, suicidal.

I wonder if they at least took the cost of replacing the tires out of his final paycheck.

He’s 52 with 20 years already in, and resigns so I guess he gets to keep his benefits if any from FL and get a job as a cop somewhere else…

I suspect this is just the one time he really got caught doing something wrong.

Hey Carlos, I know this is off topic, but I love the website and just wanted to say that I (and probably other readers) would like it if you could come up with a favicon for the site. It’s just a 16×16 image and there’s lots of info on them on the web. I personally would just like some way to make your blog stand out more in my feed reader, which by default will use favicons. Either way, thanks for the great site!

@the bulldog

Amazing, isn’t it?

But remember, he resigned, so now he can just get another job at another department if he wants.

Or maybe just get re-hired there later, maybe.

I’ve often wondered (when we see and read articles like this about bad cops), why we never hear anything from our..

“Cops can never do wrong.. Johnny Law”!?

He ran away for a while, but he’s back trolling in the metrorail thread (making stupid assertions, refusing to address facts.)

He must be bored or the heat died down at work or something.

Actually, I just saw this article. I must have missed it while I was so busy correcting Michael and friends in the Metrorail article.

The guy got caught slashing tires. He’s an idiot and the job is better off without him. What else would you like me to say? This incident is clear cut. If it were true that I thought all cops could do no wrong, wouldn’t I be on here defending the guy? I don’t have a problem with this article so I don’t anything to say.

You see, unlike you, I post stuff on here when I have something useful to say about a subject that I feel people are mistaken on. I don’t just post to rant. You seem to just want to hear people echo your own opinions. Have fun in your bubble.

My last comment was primarily directed at Rail Car but it applies to Michael as well.

Well said, except for the echo thing.

Yeah, I NEVER supply any useful input that might even show up later.

Last I checked you just troll and refuse to actually discuss anything.
