Final spec for the Fuji FinePix X100

When initial details for Fuji’s retrotastically pretty X100 were released, I sat here drooling over it, and bemoaning that we didn’t have a clearer indication as to when it would be available, or how much it would cost. Well, the full spec and price were made known unto the world today. Hoorah!

Priced at £999, it’ll hit the shops in March. And a quick recap of what you’ll get for your £999.

First, and most important as far as Fuji is concerned, is the hybrid viewfinder. So that’s a window-type ‘bright frame’ optical viewfinder (the kind found in rangefinder-type film or medium-format cameras) combined with an electronic viewfinder system that’s incorporated in fixed single lens or mirror-less digital cameras. It allows you to switch between optical and electronic viewfinder images at the touch of a button.

It’s a 23mm f2 lens that can get as close as 10cm for macro shots, and because the lens doesn’t collapse, it’s ready to go as soon as you switch on the camera. ISO ranges from 200 to 6,400, but that is extendable from 100 to 12,800.

Of course you can shoot in RAW, and there are programme, shutter priority, aperture priority, and manual shooting modes. And don’t forget the movie-mode, either: 720p in HD.

In case you were wondering, it’s 12 megapixels.
