Is this really child porn?
If this article is true, then we really have lost all common sense. That’s all I have to say.
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) — The family of an Illinois National Guard soldier says he’s been charged with possession of child pornography in Afghanistan over innocent snapshots of a 4-year-old relative in a swimsuit.
The U.S. Army has charged Spec. Billy Miller of Galesburg, Ill., with possession of child pornography and failure to obey an order that troops in Afghanistan not possess pornography.
Army spokesman Lt. Mary J. Pekas declined Friday to discuss details of the case or evidence against Miller. She says the charge is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
Miller’s father says the Army won’t discuss the case with the family. But Rodney Miller says his son has told him the charges stem from a handful of photos of the girl that the soldier’s mother e-mailed to ease his homesickness.

Fucking stupid! I’m soo fucking tired of this bullshit “justice” system! It’s all a farce! We need a revolution!
The “slippery slope” argument is a fallacy because as thinking beings, we can find the line between radically different, yet still right, and the absurd. That’s the theory, anyway.
I define pornography as something that appears in “XXX” rated movies or magazines. I can’t believe that pictures of CLOTHED individuals of any age is considered porn. Our government has lost its collective mind!
I was in the military and this stupid shit happens all the time. He must have pissed someone off and they were looking to burn him. And… there really isn’t shit he can do. Sucks to be him. Hope the publicity helps.
Mepsipax´s last blog ..Drumroll please….
We should DEMAND the military produce those photos so we can judge for ourselves…
This man is putting his life out there to protect us, its the least we could do to protect him.
I have a friend who did 6 months waitng for trial
(unable to make bail) his crime, His girlfriends 12yr old daughter saw his bare ass one day when he got out of the shower(she was supposed to be in school) She thought it was funny enough to talk about it in school, a teacher heard it and he was arrested.
So . . . . . What should they charge most churches with!!!!
You’ll find out so so many paintings of baby angels and jesus naked!
Don’t the military have nothing else to do!!!
What a farse!
What’s sad is that this kid’s reputation is tarnished forever…with the Army and in his personal life. But the really sad part is that the person that made the BS accusation will not get in any trouble at all for making false accusations.
I think it’s gone on way too long that people get away with frivolous claims like this. We need to start seeing repercussions for people’s actions.
Either the military has lost its mind, or there is more to the story…

Wow. Not really sure what else to say.
There is something wrong with this picture!!
If the guy is facing charges, he has a right to lawyer and the lawyer has right to see the evidence. I see no mention in the father’s statement about talking to a lawyer – only the Army won’t talk to him.
Further, it seems that the father has not made and effort to help get civilian counsel for his son as allowed by the UCMJ 838.ART.38.(2) (there are some exceptions on this).
In any case, I see no reason for the kid’s lawyer to not be talking to the father. Perhaps not the specifics but at least generally what is going on.
Last, the Privacy Act prevents the Army from releasing the info until a Court Martial is underway – a public venue in most cases.
Just too strange a story for my taste…

I agree with “Michael Martinez “. What do you expect when there’s some type of zero tolerance policy and the people who either made it.. or the people who enforce it, don’t use any type of common sense.
I’ve often said that “this world is going to Hell in a hand basket in a hurry”!

The problem with ‘zero tolerance’ policies is that they don’t *allow* the enforcers to use any kind of common sense.
Just like ‘zero tolerance’ for “weapons in school” gets little kids expelled because their tweety-bird keychain has a “chain” on it and “chains” are banned as “weapons”.
