It's time to lift the Cuban embargo
Barack Obama is the 11th American president to sit in the White House since Fidel Castro took over in 1959 and the 10th since Kennedy implemented a trade embargo against Cuba.
Yet here we are 50 years later wondering what can be done to bring democracy to Cuba.
While Obama is being cheered (and criticized in certain parts of Miami) for loosening restrictions on the embargo, his decision does nothing but revert the policy back to how it was during the Clinton Administration.
And all that does is grant freedom to a small segment of American citizens while denying the rest of us these same freedoms.
At least that’s the point I tried to make when I wrote today’s Miami Beach 411 article.

Well said. This is a good step that Obama has made, but it doesn’t go far enough. Plus, I was disappointed to see the President making policy that favors one particular ethnic group over another. EVERY American should be allowed to visit Cuba and spend money there, not just Cuban-Americans.
