The multi-coloured-swap-shop Pentax
Call me a purist if you will, but I kinda prefer my SLRs in something like discreet black. Pentax’s limited edition K-r, produced to tie-in with the wooden robots Korejanai Robo, doesn’t exactly fit with my ideal. In blue, red, yellow, grey, black, and white, it’s a bit on the, ehm, garish side for me. Although I do admit to finding the little robot face cute.
If you’re buying your K-r in Japan, you can already customise it by choosing from 12 different body colours, 10 grip colours, and 12 lens colours, but this is even more manic.
Thank heavens they’re only making 100 of them. And they’re only available in Japan, too. But a thought has occurred to me. Looking as if it is built of Lego and designed for a five year old does mean that it might actually be ideal for street photography. No one is ever going to take you seriously with a robot-homage held to your face.
