Inspiration: Philip at Lithium Picnic

Lithium-Picnic.jpg

Lithium-Picnic.jpgPhilip is one of the photographers I’ve been following for years and years. He is a tremendously good photographer, and he has been an inspiration to me for years.

I’ve mentioned him before, as part of our writeup on concert photography, as the guy is a fantastic concert photographer. That only deals with a tiny fraction of where his real skills lay, however…

Philip’s amazing vision is multi-layered, and sexy as anything. I came across him first when I discovered his work on Suicide Girls (NSFW!) – see his portfolio gallery (NSFW) of SG work, but the guy has a lot more strings to his bow: His portraiture work is always well-balanced and inspiring, his fashion work is at times original, at times classic, but always of high quality (find the galleries from his main portfolio index).

Convinced he’s worth finding out more about? Thought so! Read the interview with Philip on Eros Zine, stalk him on MySpace or follow his LiveJournal. Check out his LITHIUM PICNIC page as well, of course.

Philip, if you stumble across this on your travels across the interweb – thanks for everything, man, and the best of luck in your future career :)

I never liked those Suicide Girls. Too artsy to be erotic, too erotic to be art. The portraits are absolutely fabulous. Although sometimes tacky. But that’s me I guess.

yes! I knew of his live journal. I do like his work, sometimes people can’t get past the subjects that are right in front of you but there are some amazing things caputred in his works.

Here’s another site you might like if you dig Lithium Picnic. Aside from his body-mod stuff (see his saline facial injections), Jerome Abramovitch, Chapter9Photography, is a damn talented photographer. His Manniquin series is really worth a look.

I love his work – he’s very nice and down to earth I met him at an event last year. His SG work is ok but it’s the LP work on his site that really shines.

I get a lot of inspiration from this collection: http://www.lithiumpicnic.com/portfolio/thumbnails.php?album=96

I know this is a bit late, but SG is unfortunately suing him for 100,000 bucks- anyone who appreciates him and understands how fucked up this is should check out his live journal and find the link to donate to his legal fund.

agreed. very talented and down to earth guy. he was very gracious to let us at hive records use an image of apnea for the ‘fuck’ compilation a few years back. i hope he is able to recover from this horrible lawsuit.

viva le picnic!
