Lowepro's Fastpack AW bags

Lowepro seems to have cottoned on to the idea that dSLRs aren’t used just for taking stills and that those amongst us who use them for video might have need for some slightly different accessories, gadgets, and bits of kit that have to be somehow schlepped around with us. They’ve just released a new range of camera bags with dSLR videographers in mind: the Fastpack AW series.

The idea was simple: adapt one of their most popular camera bags so that it was more suitable for those of us who use our dSLRs for capturing video with sound as well as taking stills. So you get a side-accessible padded and adjustable camera and lens compartment in the base, a laptop pocket, and dedicated space in the top of the bag for headphones, a microphone, a transmitter/ receiver set, and any other audio gear that you might want to bring with you.

In addition to other nifty pockets and handles, there’s a groovy concealed tripod pocket and what’s effectively a raincoat to stop things from getting soggy and ruined.

These Fastpack bags come in three sizes. The baby of the family is the 150 AW. It fits a 13″ laptop and a dSLR with a kit lens attached, plus a spare lens, a flash, and of course audio equipment in the top compartment. The middle-sized bag, 250 AW, can take a dSLR with a larger lens attached as well as two spares, plus a flash, audio equipment, and a 15″ laptop. If you’re planning on taking your dSLR with a 70-200mm lens attached as well as two spares and a 17″ lappy, then you’ll need the 350 AW.

If you’re intersted, take a look at the Lowepro website.
