New Olympus PEN E-PL1s only in Japan... for now
Available in red, black and white, the new Olympus E-PL1s comes with a new, more silent, kit lens
Olympus has just announced the new E-PL1s a slightly revamped E-PL1 able to take ISO speed up to 6400. But it's the lens coming with the camera that deserves most attention.
The kit lens, a M.Zuiko Digital 14-42mm II 1:3.5-5.6, shows a design smaller than the original and is also lighter. But the most important feature is the fact that it has internal focusing, faster focusing and a more quieter autofocusing, something needed for video.
The new lens, which gains the reference MSC (Movie and Stills Compatible), is a welcome solution. In fact if there's something Olympus needs for the E-PL1s is a better lens thant the original kit kens, which stills jumps about on continuous autofocus and video, even after all firmware updates.
The bad news is that the Olympus PEN E-PL1 is only going to be available in the Japanese market for the time being.
