Nikon D800: A Behind The Scenes Look

Nikon has published an interview with three of the leading technicians involved in the development of the D800/D800E

The Nikon Corporation has published an interview with some of the principal personalities involved in the design and development of the D800 and D800E cameras. The article is part of the "Behind the scenes" series posted under the 'History & Technology' archive held on the Nikon.com web site.

The following are two quotes from Mr Shinya Hara, Design 1, 1st Designing Department, Development Headquarters, Imaging Company:

"In terms of high-resolution cameras, Nikon's flagship is the D3X, a 24-megapixel model released in 2008 and since highly evaluated in the marketplace. That was our product to beat in developing the D800: our goal was image quality a step above – far superior to any existing D-SLR camera – compressed into a compact camera body."

"Some may think that the D800 is the successor to the D700, but we were looking to bring the world a whole new category of camera"
