North Carolina Man Attacks News Videographer with Stick

A North Carolina man who is accused abusing his horses attacked a news videographer who was standing on a public street reporting on the story.

The property owner came after the Fox 8 videographer with a stick and a bucket and started beating him with the stick.

The incident occurred Thursday afternoon in Davidson County.

The property owner, who was not named in the news segment, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

The news crew was looking into a tip that he abuses his horses.

If that's the way he treats journalists knowing he is being videotaped, you can imagine how he treats his horses when nobody is watching.

Things like this make me wonder why so few camera users are armed with anything beyond the camera? Self defense is warranted when a maniac with a weapon comes after you, after all...

Agreed. Even something as simple as pepper spray would have been appropriate.

At the Smithsonian is what looks like a combination camera/machine gun. That would have been useful in the situation!

You just can't clock a guy with a TV news camera quite like you can with something like a Nikon F3.

...

Still, I'd say a nice dose of pepper spray would be appropriate in this case.

"I'll bust you upside da 'ead you sumbitch"....

ROTFL, I love rednecks for the comedy gold, I'd used the tripod as a defense and "on accident" knocked the ole sumbitch on his ass.

He done gratuated the 8th grade!!

That my be true.. but I understand (seeing he did it twice), he now tells everybody he's got 16 years of education! (Wink)

The proper tool is mother Smith and her six children.

What is it with HORSE people? I was attacked by a horse breeder for photographing the sunset on public property near his house. It happened a few years back and after a year I finally got an apology. On another photo site a man received verbal threats from a horse breeder (woman) after her trainer (teenager) told her he photographed a horse from the road. She tracked him down and demanded he destroy the images. Now I have been to the horse arena at the state fair and there are tons of people shooting photos and videos. They don't seem to mind it there. Perhaps someone in the equestrian business could comment?

Using a stick that long makes self defense trivial. However like pizza drivers, defending yourself may get your company sued and you fired. That said, opening a can of whoop ass on that bubba would have been satisfying in the short term

"I tolju du move you summamabitch!"

ROFL! I know this is a serious story, but I just can't stop laughing!

Who has time for all this? Who cares?
This is not news, it's a lot of bad-language second-guessing. It's not about photography. It's all about loud mouth opinions! End it!

Not about photography? Did you not look at the video?

He's trolling. Don't feed him.

Them southern rednecks are easy to bait!!

An original idea. That can't be too hard. The library must be full of them.So make an ideal life with new ideas.
