NY Fashion week ends, as do the lives of 2 NY fashion legends.

"I didn't bring you to Paris to make art; I brought you here to do the buttons and bows."

Yesterday marked the end of the Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week, and with it we lost 2 legends of fashion. The first was an amazing photographer named Lillian Bassman who has often been compared to the more well known names of Richard Avedon and Irving Penn.   Her stunning black and white photos can be seen here.

The other fashion icon was often on the other side of the lens, getting her photo taken. She was a fashion mainstay and legendary partier in New York City since the 1960's. Zelda Kaplan died at the age of 95 sitting in the front row of a runway show at fashion week. I bet she couldn't have chosen a place more fitting to spend her last minutes on earth.
