NYC hotel security guards accused of assaulting photographers
At least two photographers were assaulted by security guards of the luxury Pierre Hotel in New York City last week, according to the Caribbean World News.
The photographers were assigned to photograph the American Foundation for the University of the West Indies gala last Thursday.
But security guards not only denied them entrance, they were overly aggressive, pushing one photographer and throwing another photographer to the ground.
One of the photographers, Brooklyn-based Donovan Gopie, has since filed a harassment claim against the guards of the luxurious hotel.
“For a person like me, it’s a personal affront to me to know that I was assigned to cover this event and was treated like a common criminal,” Gopie told the Caribbean World News.

Photographers often times are disrespected & mistreated by heavy handed security at these so called celebrity events, yet without published photo images from such events there is no interest or knowledge of these events. The agressive behaviour of the security is usually set by the promoters tone , thus the security act\accordinly. Such shameful behaviour should publisized and addressed my the media & the law.
