Pennsylvania cop says he is just a liar, not an insensitive clod

Erie Police officer James Cousins said he “embellished” the comments he made in a bar where he was mocking the shooting death of a man and his grief-stricken mother.

An Erie police officer says mocking comments he made in a barroom recording that was posted on YouTube were embellished or untrue and that he made the comments to make himself seem more important to the incident than he really was.

Officer James Cousins II is suspended without pay for the eight-minute rant in which he joked about a man’s shooting death and mocked the reaction of the dead man’s mother.

Cousins says in a letter of apology that he “brought great shame to a good city.”

I might’ve gone with: “I was just rehearsing for my upcoming role in ‘Moron Cop III.’”

Well there is no doubt about that and on himself as well.

He must also undergo alcohol counseling and a fitness-for-duty evaluation. Well yeah. If he gets like that on a regular basis he’s probably got a serious problem brewing.

They should make “The Onion Field” required reading.

Why is it that the most messed up people go into social work?

Okay…even if he was “making himself look more important”, that doesn’t change the fact he said those rater idiotic, hurtful and deplorable statements. If anything, those comments make the situation worse – not only did he say all those things, he said all of it for his personal benefit…how disgusting.
