Pennsylvania Cops Still Threatening Citizens With Wiretapping Charges

Police in Pennsylvania are still clinging to the myth that it is a felony wiretapping crime to openly record them in public.

But Pennsylvania's law is very clear that one must have an expection of privacy in order for there to be a wiretapping crime.

But this has not prevented cops from lying to citizens about the law.

Lehigh County Sheriff's officials were apparently evicting a family from a home that had been forclosed.

The woman being evicted is named Patricia and talks about her situation in the bottom video.

The camera man is a lot more polite than I'd have been. Were it me, I'd have asked the deputy if he had gotten his flawed understanding of the law from reading a law book, or just police station gossip. Or if he knew the law but was just a liar.

I just called them told them I seen a very disturbing video of the police on carlosmiller.com and asked what is going to be done about these officers actions, that it is unnacceptable as public servants that they threaten with felony wiretapping for videotaping them in public spaces and I want to know what is going to be done and that something better happen to these officers who are violating the law, the person retorts with don't threaten me. I tell him I'm not threatening him, he works for us, and as such he is subject to public scrutiny and I have a right to demand that something be done. I advised him my call may or may not be recorded, he then proceeded to tell me that I can not record him, that he is a private citizen and I can not record him. I told him he doesn't get that option as he is a public servant, I demanded to speak to whoever is above him, he refused and told me to have a nice day, I told him again, give me someone above you now, he refused and hung up. I'm almost thinking I spoke to the person in the video, they refused to let me speak directly to the sherriff. Their actions are deplorable and they have lost all credibility as a police department, they can not be trusted. The have shown that violating the law is acceptable for them and they don't care. The Sherriffs Dept is looked upon now with nothing but disrepute.

Also told him he is subject to public scrutiny, if he doesn't like public scrutiny, he knows where the door is.

If you call, be careful, if you use a tone that criticizes them, they love to keep repeating over and over "Don't threaten me" when no threats are being made. They will do anything to silence someone who is critical of them.

Careful, the more aggressive breed of pig scum at the end seemed to say "Listen, you better knock it off". This language of course is the precursor to getting tazed for being a "smart mouth", or dissenting in any way what-so-ever.
