Pentax K-r gets a paint job
Camera colour isn’t exactly a selling point for me, well, not with my dSLR, anyway. I prefer the discreet black look, although I will admit that I’m rather partial to ridiculous coloured compacts. But Pentax clearly thinks it must be a defining point for some people as they’ve just announced that their entry-level K-r will come in yellow, pink, blue, purple, or metal chocolate come July. (What the hell is ‘metal chocolate’, anyone?)
When the K-r was announced in September, it came in black, white, and red, so maybe people have been asking for a canary yellow camera. Hmm.
If you want a recap on the K-r, it has a 12.4 megapixel CMOS sensor; sensitivity range ISO 100 to 25,600; HD video; six frames per second continuous shooting; and a range of filters to make your pictures retro or monochrome or toy camera-fied.
The brightly coloured ones – and the ‘metal chocolate’ version – will be available in July with an RRP of £529.99 (yes, that’s cheaper than when the K-r was first released).
