News in brief: Is Pentax adding to the mirror-less dressing-up box?

Mirror-less cameras might have been the hot product of 2010, but it wasn’t in any way due to Canon, Nikon, or Pentax. None of the big three has a mirror-less camera on the market; the rumours from Nikon have been tantalising but as yet unforthcoming, Canon is reticent, but maybe it’ll be Pentax that beats them to it? Anton Melnikov, a Pentax guy, allegedly let slip that Pentax is ready to contribute to the mirror-less dressing-up box in September.

Melnikov was speaking with journalists at the TIBO technology conference in Minsk, Belarus, when he made reference to a Pentax mirror-less camera with an APS-C sensor and ‘proper Pentax optics’. (Presumably that means there are no plans to join Team Micro Four-Thirds?) But that was about it.

Interesting. September, hey?
