Photography Links Weekly Roundup: 9/18/2009
A weekly roundup of photography news and general photo talk around the Internet.
Discovered Photography
40 Coffee Pots by photographer James StLaurent is available at Discovered Artists for a $325 as an 18×24 printed on Hahnemuhle Fine Art Luster. I love the cubism treatment used in this photograph.
Photographers That Rock
Regular readers of Digital Camera magazine will find a feature of Miss Aniela as a featured photographer. I’ve followed her blog for quite a while and kinda knew she would be going places. This is a really notable step in her career and she deserves many congrats along the way.
Looks like baby photographer Kelley Ryden will be getting a little more famous for work with sleeping babies. Hint; it involves a morning show.
There’s a great slide show of photographer Gleen Cambell’s powerful and evocative work in the homelands of the Australian aboriginal communities at burn magazine.
Epic Edits has a great collection of 35 Undiscovered Photographers and it’s a pretty stellar collection.
In the Photoblogosphere
Sometimes it’s just nice to see how one photographer thinks of another photographers work. This happens often at Exposure Compensation and their short write up on Susana Raab is concise and lovely.
If you’re a parent you probably would love to share your passion for photography with your child. I know I do. So here’s a little inspiration from our friend maine momma.
Photo Scrapbooking
The folks over at Cool Photo Ideas have a write up on SomethingBlue Studios scrapbook shoppe and it’s worth a gander. I like to point my wife to these types of things as she loves to scrapbook so I thought I’d share this with you guys as well. I mean, some of you must be scrapbooking right?
Photography Gear
For those who just can’t get enough of the Micro Four Thirds camera format: M43 Reviews is a new site dedicated to that camera format. I kinda want one. Kinda.
I’m not sure I would ever actually use a red DSLR but I’m kinda digging the fact that this option is becoming available in the entry level DSLR class by Pentax. I mean it’s red. Red. I almost, sort of, kinda, like it. Almost.
Photography Podcasts
Paul Giguere of the Thoughts on Photography podcast just finished his 3 part series on photography projects. I seem to always be working on one and I loved his insights. You probably will as well.
In Your Photo Tips news
Don’t forget about our big giveaway extravaganza membership drive for the Exposure community. Lot’s of prizes. Lot’s of fun. I’m just saying…
Also, we are currently reading Criticizing Photographs: An Introduction to Understanding Images
as our September Photography Book Club selection. It’s an interesting read and you can follow along and participate in the conversation as we move through the book at the Photography Book Club Forum section. Interesting…
Now it’s time to meet our Exposure member of the month: Kevin Russom! Kevin gets a little spotlight this week for his constant conversation in and around our photography network and his great enthusiasm for photography. If you’re new to the network it’s possible you have already been introduced to Kevin because he does a really great job of welcoming new members and helping to make them feel at home. Stop by Kevin’s page and give him a shout or comment on some of his photos. He’ll likely reciprocate.

Have a great weekend everyone.
