Police were "restrained and professional" during RNC ?

Even though more than 800 people were arrested during the republican national convention, including more than 40 journalists, police were “restrained and professional”, according to a report released Wednesday.

But maybe the standard was that they didn’t kill anybody by shooting them in the back.

Although the Associated Press refers to the 7-member panel who compiled the report as an “independent commission”, it was co-chaired by former U.S. Attorney Tom Heffelfinger and former Assistant U.S. Attorney Andy Luger, which makes it about as independent as an internal affairs department investigating its own agency.

Activists decried the report as “a whitewash”, which is pretty obvious if you read through my coverage of the RNC arrests below.

This is a travesty. Legitimate journalist trying to report the news should be treated like holy Tibetan monks. Cops and everyone else should just move out of their way just like vehicles do on the road when a Fire-Rescue vehicle comes through with their lights and siren blaring.
