Photodex ProShow for Mac is coming soon... through the Web
Mac users that want to try the slideshow creator for PC ProShow will be able to do so using a new web wizard
The slideshow creator ProShow, from Photodex, has been an exclusive of PC users until now, but Mac users wishing to try out the program will be able to do so through the ProShow Web, an online wizard coming soon.
With it, stated Amanda Sahliyeh Eddy, Public Relations Manager from Photodex, "users can create shows online automatically, stream in hd video playback, embed on your blog or website...". And PC users will have the option to "even download any video they've created online into Producer desktop software to further edit, customize, burn to disc, etc.."
The options online are limited, confirmed Amanda Sahliyeh Eddy. The idea is that ProShow Web will allow you to create a really quick video slideshow anywhere, on any computer. Just like the wizard in Producer 4.5, ProShow Web allows you to add photos, choose music, choose your energy level, choose a theme and customize the theme by turning ‘on’ or ‘off’ effects. ProShow Web will take all that and instantly create you a finished video slideshow.
The ProShow Web will be released in the next few weeks. You can check a video about it using the link below.

With all my due respect, this is just silly.
I am a professional photographer, doing slide shows for engagements, weddings and many other occasions.
I use large format pictures to do my clients sideshows. A high quality slide show with PC Photodex producer is around 500MB in size, do you expect me to upload all of this, include videos and audios online!!!!!
Well best of luck getting clients, coz I aint buying.
Soon there will be another alternatives and Mac users will not look back.
Latest statistic shows that 20% of US computers are Mac, best of luck ignoring 20% of the market, and keep the Web version for students.
Cheers,
Ameed you're right in one thing: this is not for you. Iam not defending Photodex but this is just a way for people that want to do small size slideshows (you know it can be done) and that do not have the program, to be able to do it online. PC and Mac users.
The title of the article is just a journalistic exploration of a fact that is somehow truth: Mac users will be able to use ProShow now. Some Mac users, at least.
I understand your point of view, but it's not only professional photographers that use Mac. And many people wanting to do small shows for their websites (what I guess will be the main use of this software) will be happy to try it. Photodex is only, after all, following the trend. Look at Animoto.
I guess Photodex just felt that they had to do something on the web - we already have Photoshop on the web, book making and so many other things... even if they are not for all users. And besides giving users another way to try the program, they're also doing their marketing. I think that is the main reason why they do it.
And maybe, and please be aware that I've no information on this, ProShow Web might be a step into the path to have a Mac version, for desktop use, of the program.
Remember, and I feel I've to say this, that this is not something for everybody to use. I for one, although amused at the idea would not dreaming of use it for my work. My final slideshows made with Producer have over 2GB sometimes.
Still, I guess some people will love the option. The example from other products of the same genre already on use on the web shows that there is a market. Photodex just could not forget it. And it's just because it's on the web that Mac users can use it.

Hi Jose,
Thanks for your response, it is highly appreciated.
I fully understand your point of view, and partially agree with you. The point that I don't understand is, usually the web version follow the production of both PC/Mac versions and then followed by a web one to boost their marketing and better advertise for it.
Photoshop already has PC and Mac, followed by their web and even IPhone versions. Even Microsoft Office has a Mac version followed by online one.
My expression of frustration is out of loving the program and not being able to use it. I thought to express my mind in here .. maybe they will listen.
Thank you once again and my kindest regards,
Hi Ameed
Who knows what future will bring? Maybe Photodex will do a Mac version of their software. It makes sense. Maybe the time has come...
Regards
