Queen for a Day
or this month's pin-up girl
Citra Solv transfer and mixed media
Many of you reading this blog may be too young to recall "Queen for a Day", a TV show in the '60's that featured everyday women adorned for one day. They were the "pin-up" girls representing the hard working schlubs like me; that show along with pin-up girls adorning the magazine stands were most women's fantasy. Well, today, I am Ms. April. Apparently, the team at Citra Solv has decided it is my "month" to wear the crown.I feel a little like Gracie Hart. the unattractive FBI agent in Miss Congeniality when I accept my award and spew that all I truly wanted is "world peace". But honestly, I am honored and humbled by this award. To be recognized for my art is somehow much sweeter than being recognized for my day job profession. (My brother would be in the background quietly parroting our favorite movie, the 1932 Tod Browning classic, Freaks, and saying "We accept you, we accept you, one of us, one of us.")
But honestly, I love Citra Solv; it is every artist's answer to transferring digital images economically, beautifully, and enviromentally! So below, I offer you a smattering of some of my images from my book, Digital Image Transfer: Creating Art With Your Photography.
And Citra Solv and especially Melissa, thank you. My childhood fantasy is now fulfilled.
As always, ever art, and light on ....
