Sweet new Rogue stacking grid for SpeedLites
At the risk of going overboard on the sugar-related puns (doubtless related to the afternoon that I’m about to spend churning out litres of ice cream to serve at my brother’s birthday party on Sunday), Rogue, the guys who brought us 3-in-1 FlashBenders to use alongside our hot shoe flashes, have just brought out a delicious 3-in-1 stackable honeycomb grid to modify yet further our speedlights.
Honeycomb grids, if you’ve not stumbled across them before, concentrate light in a particular area, with a gradual fall-off. They’re useful for making textured things, such as bumble bees (or more likely hair, to be honest), not look flat and dull.
The three-in-oneness of these grids provides three different sizes of light spot. You can use the 45 degree angle grid (for the largest sized spot) or the 25 degree angle grid individually, or you can stick them together for a 16 degree angle of light, which is quite small and concentrated.
They’re secured using a tension strap, meaning that you can use them in conjunction with any standard speedlight, and of course Rogue have made them compatible with its own FlashBender range.
There’s no word yet on how much they’ll cost, but they are pretty tasty-looking, and you can find out more here.
