SeenBy.com Helps "Kids with Cameras" Raise Money and Awareness
December 2, 2009 (Franklin Lakes, NJ) – SeenBy.com Fine Art Photography is raising money to support Kids with Cameras through donating a portion of all profits between December 1st and December 31st, 2009. Kids with Cameras is an organization dedicated to raising funds and awareness for underprivileged children in Calcutta through print sales, exhibitions, film festivals and a book of featuring their work.
During the month of December, SeenBy.com will donate 20 percent of the purchase price from images ordered on the site to Kids with Cameras campaign to fund Hope House. Additionally, the children’s artwork is available in the Kids with Cameras Edition gallery on SeenBy.com. One hundred percent of our profits from sales of these images in December will be donated to Kids with Cameras.
The money will fund the development of Hope House, a safe haven for children of the red-light district in Calcutta that will provide them with a place to learn and thrive. Hope House will shelter up to 100 girls, where they can live, and develop the strength and skills to change their own circumstances while remaining connected to their families.
About Kids with Cameras:
In 1997, New York-based photographer Zana Briski moved to Calcutta to live amongst impoverished women and children of the red-light district and document their stories in pictures. Realizing the children were fascinated with her camera, she began to teach them the basics of photography and in 2002, “Kids with Cameras” was born.
Kids with Cameras raises money and awareness for the children through print sales, exhibitions, film festivals and a book of their work. The children’s images have been exhibited in Calcutta, Europe and all over the U.S. Funds raised through Kids with Cameras has supported the education of several children from the original photography workshop – one of the children has completed his secondary schooling in Utah and is now studying film at NYU Tisch School for the Arts. Many of the other children are enrolled and excelling in private schools in India.

Sounds like a great cause. It's great that someone can turn a hobby like photography into a way to help underprivileged children.
Anything that gives these kids enriching activities to engage in and deters them from crime is a good thing in my book.
Kids with Cameras is an amazing project, and kudos to SeenBy.com for helping to raise money and awareness for this cause. The children are our future and they deserve every chance possible to express themselves and to be as successful as possible.
