Shooting with Mrs. Poison and Big D. (Making of...)

Hi all,

How are you?

Today I would like to show you some "behind the scenes" from one of my most recent photo shoots. Mrs. Poison and Big D were in my studio and we had a great time. However, before I show you the making of, I will show you the final pictures.

The vampire shot was done on a grey background. I planned to add the texture of the new background later with Photoshop. The floor was built in Photoshop.

The next shot was with the amazing guy Big D. Take a look

I used 2 Striplights from the back and an Octa softbox in front of him. To get more details I also used a reflector. I did a "making of" picture for you, below:

I shot with the canon 5D, f/14 , 1/125, ISO 200 and 70mm.

After that I retouched the file in photoshop. I recorded a video for you to give an overview of all the layers and my workflow for this picture.

If you have questions, please write me. I am very interested in your feedback.

Love the Photos... Great Work as Usual. Would Love to see a step by step video of your whole photoshop process on both photos. Especially how you did the flooring on the first photo. Thanks.

Thx for your feedback.
The whole PS process for both pictures?
That would take about 5 or 6 hours to explain.
Maybe a week to write :-)
Sorry but for that i can just post a link to my dvd training

Maybe a little bit more special to create a video here

Quick technical question: Why the use of ISO 200? Were you shooting without a tripod, and if so, why? No real issue, of course, with ISO 200 v. 100 on that camera, just curious about the decision.

@Bryan
You can also shoot ISO 100
For me is important that i dont shoot ISO 800 or higher.
Most of the time i choose the lowest ISO

Do you have a shot with the reflector in it? The lighting on the shot is nice, and I particularly like the front fill.

edit: nevermind...that appears to be the reflector in center front of the setup shot. It just seems kind of dull/non-reflective in that shot, but that's clearly just the way it's lit.

Nice shoot.

Hi Calvin,
Thank you very much for your tutorials.
I am just learning studio lighting and was wondering what your light set up is for the bottom photo. I am trying to figure out how many monolights I would need to get a similar effect.
Thanks!
Regina
