Slideshows increase revenue

Top international wedding photographer Mark Ridout relies on slideshows for marketing; increased revenue annually by 10%.

I would like to advise using this with discretion. A slide show on a DVD or BluRay is a fantastic idea, to be sure, because the bandwidth cost to the end viewer is minimal, and there is an expectation that the presentation will be linear.

When I am on YouTube looking for something in particular, and I find a slide show where I expected a video, I get annoyed and leave.

I also get annoyed by the slide shows that show up as videos on real estate web sites, because they often add no new information that wasn't already there in the Javascript slide show (such as the setup you use here for galleries). My annoyance is added to by the fact that it costs more Internet bandwidth to do this than to do the plain stills. This isn't a problem if I am at home, but if I am out and using a public WiFi to hit the site, it is bad.

So, to sum up: for linear presentations on video media, this is great. For presentations in non-linear media, this is a very, very bad and annoying idea. Use with discretion.
