Studio photography digest: Leica vs Fuji, PhaseOne, Cambo and much more
News and updates from AKELstudio. Camaera tests: Lieca X1 and Fuji X100, P25+ and Cambo Ultima, and much more
I was away from my lovely Pixiq for a while, trying to sort things out, and now I am happy to post the most interesting stuff I was working on past few weeks.
First, probably the most interesting thing was when I've got in my hands two beautiful cameras, Leica X1 and Fuji X100:

Both cameras was very nice to play with, and it was not apparent which one will best suite our needs of carry-on point-and-shoot compact camera with fast autofocus and decent image quality.
So, I've run series of tests, checking focus accuracy, focusing speed and image quality..
Leica X1 vs Fuji X100: Two hi-end point and shoot cameras compared.

Full test is on my blog (I really love mouseover functionality):

Another side of the medal, pure IQ in studio:
Leica X1 vs Fuji X100: the final round. In-studio performance
As you see, the answer was quite surprising... at least for us:-) You can get RAW files from both cameras to compare them yourself.
Another interesting thing was the behind the shoot info from our year old assignment. We could not release it earlier due to a license restriction, but now you can see how we did it:

I also had that pretty exciting moment for every photographer: I've got a new camera. The camera I was dreaming for a year, the camera which replaced my Canon 1Ds Mark III:

Surprised? :-)) Read more about this crazy device:
My new studio warrior: the charismatic camera with tough personality (do I say goodbye to Canon?)
I've also compared Canon 5D Mark II (22 megapixel 36x24mm sensor) to a medium format PhaseOne P25+ (22 megapixel 36x48mm sensor) to see if there would be a noticeable difference.

Full read with image examples (you can get both camera RAW files to play with yourself):
Canon 5d Mark II and PhaseOne P25+: Does a physical sensor size make a difference?
Wondering what I will be shooting with this huge technical studio camera?
Here is one example, a commercial assignment for Anisa International:

As you may already know, a month ago I had my first master class, called "Mastering Splash". It was an amazing experience for such shy guy as myself:-) As I've promised in the announcement, the outcome was placed in my portfolio.
The report form a class:
It was a blast: Splash photography masterclass in Atlanta

Hope it was interested. More cool shoots and test to come. Working on putting together Elinchrome RX vs PCB Einstein E-640, Hasselblad H1 first impressions adn more.
Stay tuned!
Yours, Alex Koloskov
