A pallet of my latest Spirit of Place calendar, a yearly promotional mailing I do for clients and donors to the Jonathan Krist Foundation, was delivered yesterday all safe and sound.

The 2011 edition features 14 pictures (that includes a cover and a bonus month!) taken in my travels in the previous year (or so). It's an eclectic mix of shots, including probably the only two HDR-ish shots (each is made from only one frame, so it's not true HDR) you'll ever see from me (it's not that I don't like the look, it's just that, um, I just don't have that much fun pushing sliders up and down at the computer for hours on end!).

One of the most interesting situations is a lightpainting shot, below, of Carhenge done with a single SB 900 and multiple exposures. You can read about how it was done here.

If you'd like to grab a copy (they make great gifts), head on over to the Jonathan Krist Foundation site and make a donation of $30 or more by hitting the "Want to Donate" box in the upper right corner. Then hit the "Contact Us" box to give us your address and bingo!

The calendar looks great! Just wanted to tell you that I enjoyed the P7000 video and info you past along on this new camera. I'm a pro in the Chicago Area that has been looking for something small like this when my D3 / D3x isn't convenient. You are right about the image quality of this little box. I've been very impressed with the files for what the camera is and it's price point. I've been shooting this thing with an SU-800 and multiple SB-900 strobes and WOW....... The ability to use the CLS system with this little box has blown me away. My only complaint is that I shoot the camera in manual mode and the meter is a little small and hard to distinguish in daylight (yellow to white contrast). Hopefully Nikon will take this into consideration with the first firmware update. Another issue is that when using the SU-800 with off camera flash and shooting RAW the files do not want to open with either NX, LR or any other application. If you change the quality to JPEG fine when using the CLS system then the files are fine. Go figure..... hopefully they will address this too.

Hi Craig: Thanks for the kind words and the heads up. That Su-800/Raw thing is weird....I'll send it on to the folks at Nikon but suggest you do the same. Glad you're liking the camera though!

First class photos. My favorite is with Jazz Man (Miami I think). With your little help I got my own P7000 and knowing all his problems, Im very happy with this little monster :) Regards! One from firsts photos attached.
