About the Book
Social media is the heart and soul of this book for photographers. In an age of information overload it’s becoming more and more imperative that photographers learn how to communicate and market their ideas and work though the various social media platforms around the Internet. The Linked Photographer’s Guide to Online Marketing and Social Media is a resource for amateur and professional photographers to build and harness their online media presence.
The authors take you through an introduction, which is key, to social media and online marketing. They ask the question “Why Social Networking?” and answer it with flying colors. Yes you do need to know this stuff if you plan on being a successful photographer in today’s age. They’ll walk you through personal branding and communication while explaining some of the strange verbiage that comes with the territory.
The book can be a bit technical but this is a technical subject matter. You need to learn what attribution and meta data means to your success in this endeavor. You’ll learn why commenting and following work to build your profile.
The authors walk you through setting up your website and adding a blog as well as how to interact with your target audience in the spaces your audience occupy. Do you need to use facebook or Twitter? The Linked Photographer’s Guide to Online Marketing and Social Media will help you answer that question.
With a slew of wonderful examples from some notable photographers who are using social media with great success and an abundance of resources it’s hard not to recommend this book to every photographer today.
The Best
The chapters on Twitter and facebook will have you working either or both of those networks to your advantage as a photographer. The authors go through great detail in explaining why and how to use each service.
Lindsay and Rosh do a great job of working you, often step-by-step, on how to set up your website as a destination for all of your social networking. It’s a method that most of us who have been doing this for years had to work out on our own. I wish I had this book as a resource when I started to build my online presence.
