The Miami River Cops case: A stroll down memory lane
One of my earliest memories of police corruption in the news was the Miami River Cops case back in the mid 1980s. I was just a teenager but I was captivated by the stories that would appear almost daily in the Miami Herald.
Today, Miami Beach 411 published a piece I wrote about the most notorious police corruption case in the history of Miami. Check it out.

Good job on the article!
That’s a pretty amazing story. Nice write up.
i used to work out with all those guys at ulysees gym off 22 and flagler…then it was off to rancho luno for munchies…
Awesome article. Sadly, not much has changed in the Miami Police since.
IMO, this was only trumped by the dadeland massacre of ’79 as one of the defining moments of the Miami drug wars.
I covered the story at the time and followed up on all of them as recently as three years ago. There are no guarantees, human nature being how it is, that this still does not go on in Police Departments down in Miami and throughout the country. Great story! Enjoyed it.
And your proud of that?….
