"The U" debuts tonight on ESPN at 9 PM Eastern
As a Miami native, I’ve always been a huge Miami Hurricanes fan, even before they became a powerhouse in the 1980s.
Tonight, “The U,” the long-awaited documentary on the rise of the team will debut on ESPN immediately after the Heisman Trophy ceremony. It is recommended watching for football fans, even if you do hate the Canes (And I know many do).
The movie was directed by Billy Corben and produced by Alfred Spellman of Rakontur, the dynamic duo who made the Cocaine Cowboys movies. I am proud to have done my part in the making of the movie.
I attended the world premiere Wednesday night and it was one of the few movies I’ve seen that kept me glued to my seat throughout the entire two hours. But then again, I am biased.
I also attended the after-party where Corben had some choice words for the University of Miami for not cooperating with the making of this movie. Listen to that clip below but turn down the volume as it is a little too loud.

I think that your appreciation of the Canes’ style informs so much about you as a person. Both good and crazy.
I tuned in and did enjoy the doc. I thought it was very well made and hope that they colaborate again to make movies again soon. Thanks for the review.
