I admit it to everyone. I am a filter and plug-in junkie. It's like a treat everyday to do post processing simply, fast and clean. Topaz is one of my "weapons of adjustment and inspiration"! Now with Topaz Adjust 5 they have brought it all together.
Starting out with a simple close up image I thought this would show some of my favorite new features.
The before image with no processing on it. Now le'ts PLAY!
Beautiful Topaz Interface

Topaz has brought a list of it's filters together in the upper left of the screen. All your favorites are still there but there are many more now and I'm going to show you one of my new favorites.

Here is the Painting Venice filter and on the right in the drop down menu is the ability to create a mask and keep the effect off the beautiful eyes.

The very popular SIMPLIFY is there and when you hover over the effects the full description of it pops up. Very useful if the preview window in the upper left of the screen wasn't enough information for you to see.
Here is one of the best new (and long time needed) features.

LAYERS! Every filter is applied on it's own layer. Keep adding filters into the layers and rename them, then add your own masks, blending effects or opacity changes.

On the right there is a handy CURVES tool and the drop down menu makes it easy to change the adjustment by choosing one or you can tweak it up to your own changes.

In the final image I used one little cheat. I ran LUCIS ART PRO6 on the eyes and only used it on the eyes. What a color pop and texture addition!
Here are some of the new features and tools you’ll find in the new Topaz Adjust 5
- Selective Brush. For easy dodging, burning smoothing and removing adjustments.
- Finishing touches. Features options for borders, transparency, grain, warmth, vignettes and more.
- Preset collections. Presets are organized into unique collections.
- Apply button. Stack multiple effects and presets during the same workflow.
- Auto create layer. Automatically creates a new layer where your adjustments will be saved to.
- Effect enable/disable. Clickable preview options that allow you to hide or view a set of adjustments for easy comparison.
- Histogram. Built into the Preview Navigator window.
- Ordered interface workflow. The interface is set up in numbered stages for a quick and easy workflow.
- Individual tab reset buttons. Quickly reset the parameters in a specific adjustment tab without affecting your other settings.
- Split Screen. Use the 2-screen split view for easy before and after comparison.
Go to Topaz Lab to see the new ADJUST filter and take advantage of the release savings for it. Also use my discount code to save on anything Topaz code: msholin
Lucis Arts Pro 6
I use Lucis a lot but rarely talk about it. Many photographers do the same thing. I'll need to do a full tutorial on using Lucis because it's so easy! It is also very powerful. Of course there is discount code for anything LUCIS: hiddenimage

No sign of Adjust 5 on the web site or at any of the links supplied above. All link to Adjust 4.
Sadly, Lucis Pro 6 is $595. Way too expensive for me in light of the usage I could get out of it.
I'm working on videos of Lucis Pro and the SE and ED edition also You can benefit from one of the lesser priced ones also. They are just different. I know it's pricey....that less a $70 discount. But I have found it does things I can't get otherwise.
Checked out their site, Everything on it today is about Adjust 4.
Oh no! This post was supposed to go up on the 14th! It is releasing on the 15th! I had it set up to auto post. So sorry. The site will be live on the 15th. I'll make it up by posting a video with it by then.
Thanks for the heads up, Marilyn. So glad you're out there to let us know when and where. You rock!
Note one and all: Adjust 5 is a FREE upgrade to owners of Adjust 3 or 4, and if you use it with the Lightroom plugin, you MUST upgrade Topaz Fusion as well. The upgrade page is very thoroughly hidden, and almost impossible to find, so here's the URL: http://topazlabs.com/support/kb/index.php?View=entry&EntryID=303
I saw no mention of upgrades being possible, so placed an order. BIG mistake. Topaz makes great software. Too bad their website is Byzantine, to say the least.
To upgrade any Topaz software, all that needs to be done is download the trial version and run it on you computer. It will update automatically with you original ser. number.
