Video Photo Critiques and How to Get One
Here's one band wagon worth jumping on. Oh yes.
Some of you will have noticed I've introduced a new weekly feature here on Pixiq; Video critiques! The reason why I've done this is that I'm a huge fan of photo critiques in general, but it turns out that written critiques aren't the best of forums for doing that: They get very technical and text heavy, and some times, there simply isn't that much to say about a photo.
So, I've now started doing something much more fun: Video critiques. With the ability to point to particular parts of an image, speak about it in more detail, and share some of my thorughs about a photo, I hope it can benefit not just the person I'm critiqueing, but also everybody else: After all, there's only one thing that's better than learning from your own mistakes, and that's to learn from someone else's!
Critiques so far
- Pont de Bratislava by Equismo (September 2011)
- Gay Balloons by Sam Levy (September 2011)
- Biz Eating Apple by DiaspirePhoto (September 2011)
- Eagle by Latrell Olner (October 2011)
- Portrait (October 2011)
- Pheasant Feathers Head Dress (October 2011)
How to get your own critique
To get your own photo critique:
- Get a Flickr account
- Upload a high resolution version of the photo you want me to critique. (I need to be able to zoom in to show things, so normal-res photos aren't eligible, I'm afraid).
- Once it's uploaded, add it to the Critique by Photocritic pool on Flickr, and I'll go through and pick a new photo to critique - hopefully one per week, if my schedule permits.
Enjoy!
