Weekend Perusing: Be Prepared
In the Photoblogosphere:
Haje over at Photocritic has an absolutely wonderful post on the ideal photo shoot. The concept is simple yet profound as an exercise of the mind. Perhaps I’ll dream up my perfect photo shoot and put it to action.
On the complete other side of that spectrum is an article on Confessions of a Photographer about an improvised photo shoot where a simple scouting location turned into an actual photo shoot(thanks to twitter and facebook). As photographers we get tested all the time with varying degrees of difficulty so it’s good to be able to adjust accordingly and work with what you’ve got.
Are you getting blurry images with your point and shoot camera? These tips for sharper point and shoot images comes courtesy Beyond Phototips.
Mostly Lisa is at it again and she’s got 6 Quick Tips for Photography on the Fly. Like the boy scouts teach: Always be prepared!
In Business of Photography:
Photoprenuer talks about setting prices for your photos which should be a good read if you’re even thinking about selling your photography. This is probably the hardest thing to do when you first go pro. In fact, it can be downright agonizing!
I’ve you’ve got a gallery showing coming up you now also have a place to help promote it courtesy Blog on Photoblogs.
Photo Tech Watch:
New Pocket Wizards announced at Camera Porn and they do look HOT, indeed.
F/1.0 has a review of the RadioPopper PXs that’s worth a look.
What exactly does Bill Gates have in store for Kodak?
Photoblog Watch:
I’m in love with the image Calling Home from Borrow A View. The golden color and the composition really grabbed me.
Art:
So I was just going to point you in the direction of Lauren Alexander’s Art Blog as our featured artist this week but now I’m going to point you to her raffle in celebration of her 1000th sale! It’s easy to enter yourself for a chance to win some artwork from an artist that’s having success on Etsy. So go buy some artwork and support the arts. I’m just saying…
In Your Photo Tips News:
Of course we have our photography contest underway and there are some really fantastic entries. You still have a chance to enter but the end of February is coming soon. I’ll be announcing the winner Thursday 02/28/2009 02/26/2008 so get your entries in!
Don’t forget about this month’s photography book club selection. I’ll be doing the review for that book on Wednesday 02/27/2009 so getting your copy of Beyond Portraiture: Creative People Photography at Amazon is starting to get tight if you want to send in a review before the end of the month.
I may have a little surprise for you all this weekend if I can get some technical issues worked out(no promises).
Unfortunately I have to skip the reader’s photos selection because the way I used to do it doesn’t work anymore and I need to figure out a new way. Perhaps I’ll figure it out next week.
A photo competition for February!
