Weekend Perusing: Buy Some Art!
Buy Photography:
New section I’m adding to our usual Weekend Perusing editions. I’ll be highlighting one photograph for sale that I happen to stumble upon while perusing the galleries at DiscoveredArtists. You can also find my gallery there and I encourage your feedback as always.
Home 8 by Ken Jones is an 8×6 Fine Art Giclee Print for only $95!
In the Photography Industry:
Getty is making more cuts. The industry leading mammoth isn’t immune to these economic hard times. In fact, they may be fighting an uphill battle that they simply cannot win.
If you’re in France you may be interested in saving photography. It is a noble cause after all. You know, saving photography.
The Photoblogosphere is reading:
Cass just did a review of the same book we’re reading for our own photography book club. Coincidence? Go check it out if you’re too anxious to wait for my review of The BetterPhoto Guide to Exposure (BetterPhoto Series).
Ed over at F1.0 did a brief review of The Hot Shoe Diaries, you know, the much anticipated release from Joe McNally. I’ll have to put that one in next month’s voting poll for the book club for sure.
In other Photoblogosphere happenings:
David at PixelatedImage Blog tells us all How Not To Be A MORON when it comes to running a photography business. I could have used some of that advice a few years ago. I’m just saying…
It may be time for some spring cleaning. The folks at CameraDojo show us how to clean your own sensor the right way!
In Photo Gear news:
The Sigma DP2 14MP FOVEON CMOS Sensor Digital Camera with 2.5 Inch TFT LCD is on sale at Amazon for $649! This is actually $150 less than the DP1 debuted at. This is one beautiful looking compact camera.
Phase One takes the helm in Mamiya camera partnership.
Stuff to look at:
I love these images at Avignon in Photos. The first one really grabs me.
If you’re near the Dina Mitrani Gallery in Miami you should definitely check out this gallery show.
In Post Production news:
If you’re an action junkie then I would like to point you to a couple of websites. CoffeeShopActions and Digital Photography for Everyone are both sure to help you get your post production life in order. Be forewarned, you may end up spending more time in front of your monitor instead of behind your lens so read these blogs with caution!
In Your Photo Tips news:
Don’t forget that we’re reading The BetterPhoto Guide to Exposure (BetterPhoto Series) for this month’s photography book club. I’ll have the review for you guys on Monday.
Also, you have the rest of the weekend to enter our March Photography Contest. The winner will be announced on Tuesday so get your last minute entries in soon!
It’s time to show off some great photographs by you. Enjoy!
