Weekend Perusing: Flexplore
One of the things about flickr is that it can be hard to find what you’re really looking for. I just spent hours at the flexplore website discovering some of the most amazing works on flickr and they were tailored to my likings. If you have a few extra hours handy you should check out this amazing website that helps you discover more favorites to admire.
From what I can tell, flexplore works by gathering the information about “your favorites” and uses the flickr API to gather other works that should be similar in style. I’m sure the algorithm uses tags and other public data to come up with this information, all I know is that it worked wonderfully for my user name.
A word of caution, this website isn’t for everyone. It takes patience as the loading time can be up to 20 minutes or so. I found that my particular user name took almost 17 minutes to upload but the wait was worth it. Also, it helps to have many favorites already on your profile to work accurately.
The Your Photo Tips group is still growing and the works that have come from our readers is top notch. Here are a few notables. Click on an image below to be taken to that person’s flickrstream.

Damien, I'm glad your Flickr group is doing so obviously well.
I really love your site and need to pore through it. Every photographer has more to learn, and I love how you post so many photos to learn from. Bravo!
Very cool to see my shot of the Grolsch beer here! :)
I suspect that this post is what introduced me to flexplore in the beginning. Now that it's back online (it's creator was on holidays) I've been hitting it hard!
It's back online!
I'm so wasting some time on there tonight!
Thanks for the heads up Tom.
