Weekend Perusing: The Gaping Void
In The Photoblogosphere:
Antoine Khater has a great write up on Mark St. Pierre at Adidap. There are some really great photographs of airplanes and a random dog as well!
There has been a lot of talk lately of Canon’s 5D mirror problem as of late. Jessica Grieves shares her experience with the problem. Hopefully Canon starts pulling their head out of their…well. You know.
Photocritic has a great post on breaking photographer’s block. A great list to keep one inspired.
Brian Auer has a great article on 7 ways to avoid a cliché sunset photo. Honestly, sunset photos are one of the hardest for me to do because I’m often over critical and see every one as a cliché. This article should help.
Do you have an iPhone? Do you also have all of these really cool iPhone apps for photographers? I need to get an iPhone.
This whole mess with the Obama poster and whether or not it was fair use is a headache to keep up with. I keep up tabs at Photo Attorney and here’s the latest on that issue.
Apparently iPhoto images lose sharpness when being straitened which is none too good. Thanks to Derrick Story and his Virtual Camera Club for looking into this problem.
If you need workflow help why not get if from kid phenom photographer Joey Lawrence? I really shouldn’t be calling Joey a kid but turning 30 last year has me feeling old (especially when my wife reminds me about it every day!).
In Art Photography:
If you’re an emerging photographer and you need some money then chek out this grant opportunity. I may even look into it myself!
In Photo Gear:
Ever wondered what was in David Ziser’s bag? Well wonder no more because you can just watch this video! It’s pretty neat to look at what one of the world’s top Pro’s is shooting with these days.
In Art:
One of my favorite blogs happens to come from Alpine, TX artist Hugh MacLeod at Gaping Void. Hugh has been a big player in the blogosphere and is really making a name for himself as a super talented artist and marketer. To think, it all started with some business cards. Interested? I know you are!
In Your Photo Tips News:
Well a late start to the February Photography Book Club shouldn’t stop you from getting your copy of Beyond Portraiture: Creative People Photography at Amazon today. I’m expecting to get my copy in the mail soon and am looking forward to reading this photography book. I haven’t done very many portraits since I quite the biz and I could use a refresher and some inspiration to get some portraits done.
Don’t forget that we do have a Photo Contest sponsored by the folks at Edge Tech Corp. It’s U.S. residents only and you can find more information here.
Here are some really great images from our readers in the Your Photo Tips Flickr Group. Enjoy!
